4-3 FUEL AND LUBRICATION SYSTEM
INSPECTION AND CLEANING
FUEL FILTER
If the fuel filter is dirty with sediment or rust, fuel will
not flow smoothly and loss in engine power may result. Clean
the fuel filter with a compressed air.
FUEL VALVE
Connect the vacuum pump gauge to the vacuum port of the
fuel valve as shown in the illustration. Apply negative pressure
to the fuel valve and blow the fuel outlet port. If air does not
flow out, replace the fuel valve with a new one.

AXCAUTION
Use a hand operated vacuum
pump. Do not apply high
negative pressure to prevent the fuel valve damage.
FUEL VALVE GAUGE
REMOVAL
e Open the seat.
e Disconnect the fuel level gauge lead wire coupler @) :
# Remove the fuel level gauge @ by removing the mounting
screws.
For inspecting the fuei level gauge, refer to page 6-21.
REMOUNTING
e Remount the fuel tank, fuel valve and fuel level gauge in the
reverse order of removal.
