2-3 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
MAINTENANCE AND TUNE-UP PROCEDURES
This section describes the servicing procedures for each item
of the Periodic Maintenance requirements,
' BATTERY
Inspect initially at 1,000 km (1 month) and
Every 4,000 km (4 months) thereafter.
The battery must be check the voltage.
e Open the seat.
e Check the battery voltage Measure the voltage is between a
@) terminal and © terminal of battery as shown.
If the voltage checked is below 12.4 v the battery need
recharging
e When remove the battery disconnect the negative cable
©) first and then the positive cable @) ' . :
e When install the battery connect the positive cable(+)first
- and then the negative cable (-) :
EXHAUST PIPE BOLTS
Tigten intially at 1,000 km (1 month) and
inspect every 4,000 km (A months) thereafter.
e Tighten the exhaust pipe bolts and muffler mounting bolt
and nut to the specified torque.
®) Exhaust pipe bolt : 11 N-m (1.1 kg-m)
Muffler mounting bolt and nut ; 26 N-m (2.6 kg-m)

AIR CLEANER
Clean every 4,000 km (4 months).
e Remove the frame cover. (Refer to page 5-2.)
e Take off the air cleaner element.
A CAUTION
Always use air pressure on the side of the steel sheet.
e If driving under dusty condition, clean the air cleaner
element more frequently. The surest way to accelerate
engine wear is to use the engine without the element or to
use a ruptured element. Make sure that the air cleaner is
in good condition at all times. Life of the engine depends
largely on this component!
