4. Install a charged battery pack.
2. Set the POWER switch to ON.
. Make sure that the condensation indicator is off. If it is on,
wait until it goes off.

When there is condensation, a warning indication also
appears on the viewfinder screen. (See page 23.)
4. Adjust the brightness and contrast of the viewfinder picture.
5. Press the DISP. SEL (Status Display Select) switch a
number of times to obtain the mode-2 display (see below)
and check the battery voltage.

@ More than 12 V is necessary for proper operation.
e With a fully charged battery pack, 13 V or so will be
displayed.
6. Open the VTR control section cover and press the EJECT
button.
(Pressing the EJECT button immediately after the power
has been turned on may fail to open the cassette holder.
Wait for about 7 seconds.)

7. Load a video cassette with its safety tab in place.
(Insert the cassette fully, otherwise the tape could be
damaged.)
8. Close the cassette holder securely by pressing its center
portion.
The tape will be loaded automatically, and the unit will enter
the Record-Pause mode. (It takes about 15 seconds.)
