Adjusting the white balance and black balance
White balance adjustment is needed only in the following
case:
@ When the light source illuminating the subject is changed
before shooting or during shooting.
Procedure
Follow the steps in "Before making adjustments".
1. Set the iris mode switch to AUTO.
2. Shoot a white object (such as a cloth, wall) to fill the screen.
3. Push the AUTO switch as required.
e Up (toward WHT) to adjust white balance only.
(No need to keep it depressed.)
e Down (toward SETUP/BLK) to adjust both white balance
and black balance at the same time.
(No need to keep it depressed.)
@ It is also possible to adjust black balance independently
by using the memory function. (See page 32)
4. During adjustment, messages showing the process will be
seen on the viewfinder screen.
Items to be adjusted
e AUTO WHITE 1 (AUTO1 mode)
e@ AUTO WHITE 2 (AUTO2 mode)
@ AUTO BLACK (Auto Black)
e AUTO SET UP (appears after completion of
simultaneous white and black balance adjust-
ments)
Process of adjustment
e OPERATION (adjustment is being executed)
@ COMPLETED (adjustment is completed)

Black balance adjustment is needed only in the following
cases:
@ When this unit is used for the first time, or after a long period
of storage.
@ When the ambient temperature has changed drastically.
Normally, it is not necessary to re-adjust the black balance
when the power is turned off and then turned on again.
Error messages
These messages are given as warnings.
lf an errror message appears, check for the following
causes, then perform adjustment again.
e
LOW LIGHT ERROR
Cause
:
Insufficient lighting.
Remedy
:
Increase lighting, or increase sensitivity
with the GAIN switch. (The S/N will
deteriorate with increased sensitivity.)

OBJECT ERROR
Cause
:_
The object being shot is not appropriate.
Remedy
:
Check whether it is sufficiently white, and
change it if necessary.

OVER LIGHT ERROR
Cause
:_
Incoming light is too strong.
Remedy
:
1. Check whether strong light such as

direct or reflected sunlight is striking the
lens.
2. Set the filter control correctly.
e
LENS NOT CLOSE?
Cause
:
Lens is notin auto operation.
Remedy
:
Check the lens cable connection.
