When the subject is dark and the amount of light is not
sufficient, the camera's
sensitivity can
be increased
electronically.
To select the sensitivity
To select the sensitivity, set the GAIN switch as required.
There are five sets of available sensitivities at three switch
positions. The combination of sensitivities can be selected
using the memory function. (See page 32.)

Video ALC (Automatic Level Control)

ome
Video ALC is a function which allows the camera's sensitivity
to be adjusted automatically according to the brightness of the
subject.
The video ALC automatically functions regardless of the
setting of the GAIN switch when recording is initiated using the
quick-recording trigger. The video ALC starts operating when
the iris reaches a certain value. This makes it possible to shoot
while keeping the depth of focus constant.
© The higher the sensitivity, the more grainy the picture.
@ It is possible to make the video ALC function in the "eee"
position of the GAIN
switch, by using the memory
function. (See page 32.)
@ The iris value at which the video ALC starts operating can
be set by using the memory function. (See page 32.)
e Sensitivity varies continuously between 0 dB and 12 dB.
Auto iris and APB function
Auto iris is a function which determines the aperture of the lens
automatically according to the brightness of the subject.
In measuring light, the peak and average levels are detected
and mixed at a certain ratio. With conventional auto iris
systems, this mixing ratio is fixed. The APB (Automatic Peak
and average Balance) function mixes the peak and average
levels at an optimum. ratio according to the subject, thereby
ensuring an optimum iris.
To engage the auto iris mode:
Set the IRIS MODE switch of the lens to AUTO.
—22—
To change the auto iris parameters:
It is possible to change the auto iris parameters by using
the memory function. (See page 32.)
