3.5.3 SMS Modem
The SNMP card can be configured with an SMS modem provided by Huawei.

● The device that receives SMS messages from the SMS modem must support 8-bit SMS
messages defined in 3GPP TS 23.038.
● The SNMP card supports the SMS modem only when it works with the UPS2000-
G-15KRTL-01/UPS2000-G-20KRTL-01.
● If the SNMP card is equipped with an SMS modem, and a SIM card is inserted properly,
users can view the SMS module status (indicating that the module is present) in the
communication status bar of the WebUI. If the SNMP card is not equipped with an SMS
modem, the status indicates that the SMS modem is not present.
● Only the SMS function of the SMS modem is used. This function enables information
such as UPS fault alarms to be sent and received by short message. For details, see the
alarm notification configuration in
other functions of the SMS modem and the methods for using these functions, see
related manuals delivered with the modem.
