2.7 Computer connection

The G3Lite typically contains a DeltaV control platform from Emerson
Process Management and a networked workstation running the
Thermo Scientific
one networked workstation (a ProPlus) is required to configure and
manage the software database. The ProPlus can function as a DeltaV
system historian and an operator workstation. Alternatively, the
historian and operator stations can be separate, although connected
on the control network through the P and S series connectors on the
right side panel (section 1.5). Only one ProPlus can be used per control
network.
If two (2) or more G3Lite units are linked in the control network, the
ProPlus and the DeltaV Controller will be located only on the first
(master) G3Lite. The second G3Lite will connect via the Controller IO
Bus Network Ax and Bx ports (section 1.5) using additional DeltaV
I/O serial cards. See the diagram in Figure 2.13 below. Note: It is
highly recommended that the TruLogic and ProPlus are remote in this
configuration to prevent a situation of loss of data and control from
happening. If the system is a satellite, connected to one (1) G3Lite with
ProPlus and TruLogic, then the previous situation will not be a problem.
