Setting Up an Async Terminal as the User Interface

Initiating the ATI

The user interface can be an async terminal, a VT100-compatible terminal, or a
PC. When setting up the user interface, verify that the terminal matches these
factory-loaded option default settings:
Data rate set to 9.6 kbps.
Character length set to 8.
Parity set to None.
Stop Bits set to 1.

You can communicate with the ATI using one of the following methods:
Direct connection through the Terminal port.
Dialing in through an external modem to the Terminal port.
Telnet session through the Management port (locally or via an external
modem).
Telnet session through the In-band Management Channel (IMC).
NOTE:
Only one async user interface session can be active at a time, and another
user's session cannot be forced to end. To automatically log out a user due to
inactivity, enable the Inactivity Timeout option (see
Table A-4).
