Installing the Optional Cassette

The optional cassette is setup and loaded following the same procedure as the
standard cassette. See "Standard Cassette" in chapter 1 for details.
To prevent jams, always make sure that the cassette's lift plate is down, all media is the
same size, media guides fit against the media without making it buckle, and media
does not exceed the loading limit mark (fig. 6.11). Also, make sure the media size dial
is set for the size of the loaded media (fig. 6.12).

Controller Board Upgrades

RAM and internal IDE hard disk upgrades are controller board modifications. This
section covers installing these upgrades.
To install a Controller board upgrade
1.
Access the controller board.
2.
Install the upgrade(s).
3.
Reassemble the printer.
Static electricity can destroy the printer's electronic components. Always use an
antistatic procedure when working with the controller board. Use an anti-static
wristband or touch an unpainted metal surface to eliminate static electricity before
handling a circuit board. When handling a board, always hold it by the edges and
avoid walking around, particularly on carpeted surfaces.
