Driving your vehicle
System warning
The EPB will display a warning message
with sound under certain conditions.
僅 If you try to drive off depressing the
accelerator pedal with the EPB
applied, but the EPB doesn't release
automatically, a warning will sound
and a message will appear.
僅 If the driver's seat belt is not fastened
and the vehicle hood, driver's door or
liftgate is opened, a warning will
sound, and a message will appear.

and close door, hood and liftgate
僅 If there is a problem with the vehicle, a
warning may sound, and a message
may appear.
If any of these above situations occur,
depress the brake pedal and release
EPB by pressing the EPB switch.
WARNING
僅 To prevent unintentional movement
when stopped and exiting the vehicle,
do not use the shifter dial in place of
the parking brake. Set the parking
brake and make sure the shifter dial is
positioned in P (Park).
僅 Never allow a passenger to touch the
parking brake. If the parking brake is
released unintentionally, serious
injury may occur.
僅 The vehicle should always fully
engage the parking brake fully when
parked to avoid inadvertent move -
ment of the vehicle which can injure
occupants or pedestrians.
CAUTION
僅 A click or electric brake motor whine
sound may be heard while operating
or releasing the EPB. These conditions
are normal and indicate that the EPB
is functioning properly.
僅 If others drive the vehicle, make sure
they understand how to use the EPB.
僅 The EPB may malfunction if you drive
with the EPB applied.
僅 Automatically release EPB by
depressing the accelerator pedal
slowly.
When conversion from AUTO HOLD to
EPB is not working properly a warning
will sound, and a message will appear.

AUTO HOLD
NOTICE
Engage the brake pedal when the above
message appears as the AUTO HOLD
and EPB may not activate.
If EPB is applied while AUTO HOLD is
activated because of an Electronic Sta -
bility Control (ESC) signal, a warning will
sound, and a message will appear.
