About this Guide

This guide provides instructions for experienced installers to install, configure, and operate
the Extron MediaPort 300 HDMI and Audio to USB Scaling Bridge.

About the MediaPort 300

The MediaPort 300 is a 4K HDMI and audio to USB scaling bridge that interfaces between
professional audiovisual equipment and computer-based conferencing software to simplify
video conferencing with soft codecs. It works seamlessly with a computer using generic
USB video and audio drivers. The MediaPort 300 features an HDMI input with HDCP-
compliant loop through, accepts signals up to 4K/60, and scales video up to USB 5 Gbps
output rates.
The MediaPort 300 also features Digital Signal Processor (DSP) audio mixing as well as level
and mute controls.
The video and audio features enable it to serve as a soft codec interface, giving it the
flexibility to integrate into larger hardware codec or DSP systems. The MediaPort 300
facilitates easy integration of conferencing computers into pro AV designs.
For small meeting spaces with just a computer and display, the MediaPort 300 is ideal for
enhancing audio and video quality by adding support for professional-grade equipment
such as videoconferencing PTZ cameras, boundary microphones, and sound reinforcement
systems.
In meeting and large conference rooms, the MediaPort 300 easily integrates a conferencing
computer into a fully equipped AV system with, video distribution and processing, control,
microphones, and full sound reinforcement. In addition to conferencing, the connected
personal computer can be used with a software application to record meeting sessions,
presentations, or lectures.
The MediaPort 300 connects to Windows
play simplicity, using industry-standard UVC - USB Video Class and UAC - USB Audio Class
drivers. It can be used with popular software and cloud-based communications platforms
including Microsoft
FaceTime
With the buffered HDMI loop-through, the MediaPort 300 also works in conjunction with
hardware codec solutions from manufacturers such as Polycom
to augment communications capabilities in established video conferencing environments.
Additionally, the HDMI input and loop-through are HDCP-compliant, enabling straightforward
integration into systems for passing encrypted content from a source to a display.
