Installation About the MTP Transmitters and Receivers The Extron MTP transmitters and receivers provide a system for long‑distance distribution of A/V signals over Category (CAT) 5 shielded (STP), unshielded (UTP), or foil shielded (FTP) twisted pair cable. They are part of the Extron VersaTools distribution amplifiers, switchers, transmitters, receivers, and associated video accessories. -

The table below identifies the generation of transmitter and/or receiver. If any of the above scenarios are true, consult the VersaTools MTP Series User's Manual or www.extron.com for instructions on properly setting the jumper. Only new generation units have jumpers. -

- Page 15 The length of exposed wires is critical. Ideal length is 3/16” (5 mm). If the stripped section of wire is longer than 3/16” the exposed wires may touch, causing a short circuit. If the stripped section of wire is shorter, wires can easily be pulled out even if tightly fastened by the captive screws.
