arp

The arp Global Configuration mode command adds a permanent entry in the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)
cache. To remove an entry from the ARP cache, use the no form of this command.
Syntax
arp ip_addr hw_addr {ethernet interface-number | vlan vlan-id | port-channel port-channel number.}
no arp ip_addr {ethernet interface-number | vlan vlan-id | port-channel port-channel number.}
Parameters
ip_addr — Valid IP address or IP alias to map to the specified MAC address.
hw_addr — Valid MAC address to map to the specified IP address or IP alias.
interface-number — Valid Ethernet port.
vlan-id — Valid VLAN number.
port-channel number. — Valid port-channel number.

This command has no default configuration.

User Guidelines
The software uses ARP cache entries to translate 32-bit IP addresses into 48-bit hardware addresses. Because
most hosts support dynamic resolution, static ARP cache entries do not generally have to be specified.
Example
The following example adds IP address 198.133.219.232 and MAC address 00:00:0c:40:0f:bc to the ARP table.
Console(config)# arp 198.133.219.232 00:00:0c:40:0f:bc ethernet e6
