2.6.1

Cable Separation

In order to prevent electromagnetic disturbances to corrupt the signals and therefore
affect communication performances, network planning should always guarantee a
suitable separation of communication cables from other cable types, and especially
from power cables like supply lines or motor connections. This is shown in Figure
2.12

In order to improve the immunity to electromagnetic disturbances and to reduce the
minimum permissible distance from power lines, EtherCAT cables can be routed
through metallic enclosures or conduits as shown in Figure 2-10.
