❏ Do not forcefully shake or swing ink supply units
or ink tray containing ink supply units. Ink could
leak.
❏ Removed ink supply units may have ink around
the ink supply port, so be careful not to get any
ink on the surrounding area when removing the
ink supply units.
Shaking
If a message is displayed informing you that it is time
to shake the ink, you can check the procedure on the
control panel while shaking the ink supply unit.

On the screen, press the status display area.
B
In the Message List, press the message
informing you that it is time to shake the ink.
Maintenance
C
Press How To... to view the procedure. Follow
the on-screen instructions to perform the
procedure.

Checking for clogged nozzles

We recommend that you check the nozzles for clogs
each time you print to ensure quality results.
Ways to Check for Clogs
There are the following two ways to check for clogged
nozzles.
Perform auto cleaning
The printer automatically checks for clogged nozzles,
and then executes cleaning at the optimum strength. If
the nozzles are not clogged, cleaning is not done. See
the following for more details.

On-Demand Nozzle Pattern
When you want to check that there is no clogging or
stripes and unevenness in print results before printing,
print a nozzle check pattern. Inspect the printed check
pattern visually to determine whether the nozzles are
clogged.

Supported Media
You need the following media to print a check pattern.
The type of media you use varies depending on the
Printer Mode you are using.
Size
L, M, or S size platen or the
medium grooved platen

A4 or letter size
