Pre-Storage Maintenance for
Long-Term Non-Use
Always perform pre-storage maintenance if the printer
will not be used (and will be switched off) for an
extended period.
Important:
If you do not perform pre-storage maintenance,
a print head nozzle could become permanently
clogged.
If you do not print for a long time and do not
perform pre-storage maintenance, turn the printer
on at least once every seven days.
Pre-storage Maintenance Timing
The pre-storage maintenance process varies
depending on the length of time the printer is not
used, as shown below.
Two weeks or more but less than one month (only
when used in White ink mode)
Change to Color ink mode.

One month or more
See the following to do Keeping Preparation.
When performing Keeping Preparation, prepare six
Cleaning Ink Supply Units and a new Waste Ink
Bottle.

Performing Pre-storage
Maintenance
Important:
If the amount of remaining ink or cleaning liquid
is insufficient, the function may not operate. If
there is an insufficient amount of ink remaining,
have new Ink Supply Units/Cleaning Ink Supply
Units on hand as a precaution.

Confirm that the power is turned on, and
then press in the order of
Maintenance - Keeping Preparation.

Check the on-screen messages, and then press
Start.
Follow the on-screen instructions to perform
the procedure.
Press How To... on the screen to view the work
procedure.
Important:
Before storing them, clean off any ink stuck
on the ink supply ports of the ink supply
units that you removed. Clean using the
wide cleaning stick from the Maintenance Kit
supplied.
❏ Use a new Cleaning Stick for each color
to avoid mixing the colors.
❏ Lightly touch the corner of the cleaning
stick to the hole of the ink supply port
to absorb the ink. You do not need to
wipe off the ink. Do not forcefully press
or move the Cleaning Stick.

When the replacement complete message is
displayed, turn off the power.
