Wipe off ink stains by moving a clean-room
wiper from the center of the encoder scale to
either end of the scale, moving it back and forth
about two or three times.
Wipe the left edge up to just before the carriage.
The part of the scale that you cannot see does
not need to be cleaned.
Wipe the right edge up to just before the part
where the encoder scale becomes transparent.
Important:
❏ Do not pull too hard on the encoder
scale. If you pull too hard, the right
section may come off.
❏ When wiping, make sure the ink cleaner
does not drip into the printer. If it does
drip, wipe it with a dry clean-room
wiper.
❏ Do not rub too hard as doing so may
damage the encoder scale. Damage to the
scale may cause a malfunction to occur.

Wipe off any dust on the encoder scale with a
dry clean-room wiper.

Close the printer cover.
