Step 1.
If the server is in a rack, at the back of the server, pull back the cable management arm to gain
access to the rear of the server and the power supply.
Step 2.
Disconnect the power cord from the connector on the back of the power supply.
Step 3.
Press and hold the orange release tab to the left.

Step 4.
Grasp the handle and pull the power supply out of the bay.
If you are instructed to return the server component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and
use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.

Replacing a hot-swap power supply

Use this information to replace a hot-swap power supply.
Notes:
1. Make sure the devices you are installing are supported. For a list of supported optional devices for the
server, see
http://www.lenovo.com/us/en/ serverproven/
2. Do not install two power supply units with different wattages. Related information is available from the
following:
• Read the label on top cover for maximum wattage output of installed power supply units. Only replace the
existing units with those with the same wattage as marked on the label.
