2.4 Battery Backup Unit
To prevent data loss especially for the metadata, the system hard disks
(see section "Hard Disk Tray" on page 2-6) are protected by a battery
backup unit. If the system's operation gets interrupted, for example, in
case of a power failure, it will provide power to the cache of the con-
nected RAID controller, so that buffered data will not get lost. Once the
operation of the system is restored, the cached data will be written to
the hard disks.
The battery backup unit is a rechargeable battery inside the system that
will be charged automatically when the system is turned on.
