Platform hardware alarm reporting

This feature allows alarms to be raised for certain adverse conditions in the
hardware. Alarms are raised by the System Manager for hardware faults on
the MAS, BCP and core MCS hardware.
The System Manager monitors these aspects of the servers; it does not
manage the servers.

Alarms

Minor alarms are raised when

System Manager

The System Manager raises alarms when thresholds are exceeded and
clears the alarms when the server returns to normal levels. At the same
time that the alarms are raised or cleared, logs are generated.
The alarms can be relayed to a customer's Network Management System,
using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) traps defined under
the Nortel Reliable Management Information Base (MIB).
