BladeCenter T HS20 Blade Server
Two versions of the BladeCenter T HS20 Blade Server are available. The
first version is configured specifically for the Border Control Point. The
second version is configured specifically for the Media Application Server.
The difference is the operating system installed on the server.
The HS20 Blade Servers can be installed in the BladeCenter E or
BladeCenter T.
Gigabit Ethernet Switching Module
The GbESM provides high-speed Ethernet connections between HS20
Blade Servers and the outside network.

Software

The BladeCenter T HS20 Blade Server is installed with Microsoft Windows
2000 operating system for MAS servers, or the Linux operating system for
the BCP. The BladeCenter T system management is performed using the
IBM Director software. MAS software management is performed using the
MCS System Management Console.

Network deployment and engineering

The network demarcation for the BladeCenter T is the first-hop switch or
router outside the BladeCenter chassis. The external network is responsible
for providing Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services for the
blade servers and the management module.
The IBM BladeCenter T Installation and Commissioning Guide contains
configuration information for the GbESM as well as the basic capability
expectations of the first-hop switch or router.

Existing system upgrades

MAS systems can be upgraded from MAS Release 3.0 (part of MCS 5100
Release 3.x). Systems running older versions of MAS must be upgraded to
MAS Release 3.0 before upgrading to MCS 5100 Release 4.0.
