Raising the vehicle when changing a wheel
Requirements
There are no persons in the vehicle.

The vehicle has been prepared for a wheel
R
change (
page 402).

The hub caps have been removed
R

Fitting the jack
Assemble pump lever 1.

Place pump lever

with the recess on lower-

ing screw

on the jack.
Turn pump lever

clockwise as far as it will

go.
Lowering screw

is closed.

Adapter
To raise the vehicle at the front: adapter
be secured on the jack.
To raise the vehicle at the rear: remove adapter

from the jack.
Important notes on using the jack:
Use only the vehicle-specific jack that has

been tested and approved by Mercedes-Benz
to raise the vehicle.
The jack is only designed for raising and hold-
R
ing the vehicle for a short time while a wheel
is being changed and not for maintenance
work under the vehicle.
The jack must be placed on a firm, flat and
R
non-slip surface. If necessary, use a large, flat,
load-bearing, non-slip underlay.
Position the jack only at the jack support
R
point.
Rules of conduct when the vehicle is raised:
Never place your hands or feet under the vehi-
R
cle.
Never lie under the vehicle.
R

Do not open or close any doors or the rear-

end door.
