116 Light and sight
Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus cannot take into
account road, weather or traffic conditions.
Detection may be restricted in the following
cases:
In poor visibility, e.g. fog, heavy rain or snow
R
If there is dirt on the sensors or the sensors
R
are obscured
Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus is only an aid. You
are responsible for adjusting the vehicle's lighting
to the prevailing light, visibility and traffic condi-
tions.
Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus automatically
switches between the following types of light:
Low beam
R
Partial high beam
R
High beam
R
Partial high beam uses the high beam to shine
past other road users rather than dazzling them.
The vehicle in front will be illuminated by the low
beam.
At speeds greater than 30 km/h:
If no other road users are detected, high beam
R
will switch on automatically.
If other road users are detected, partial high
R
beam will switch on automatically.
At speeds below 25 km/h or when there is suffi-
cient street lighting:
The high beam will switch off automatically.
R
The partial high beam will switch off automati-
R
cally.
At speeds greater than approximately 50 km/h:
The headlamp range of the low beam will be
R
regulated automatically based on the distance
to other road users.

The system's optical sensor is located behind
the windscreen near the overhead control
panel.
