Tyre pressure monitoring system
▌Function of the tyre pressure monitoring sys-
tem
The system checks the tyre pressure and the tyre
temperature of the tyres fitted to the vehicle by
means of a tyre pressure sensor.
The tyre pressure and the tyre temperature
appear in the on-board computer (
If there is a substantial pressure loss or if the tyre
temperature is excessive, you will be warned with
display messages (
page 475) or the h
/
warning lamp in the Instrument Display
(
page 496).

The tyre pressure monitoring system is only an
aid. It is the driver's responsibility to set the tyre
pressure to the recommended cold tyre pressure
suitable for the operating situation.
In most cases, the tyre pressure monitoring sys-
tem will automatically update the new reference
values after you have changed the tyre pressure.
You can, however, also update the reference val-
ues by restarting the tyre pressure monitoring
system manually (
page 397).

System limits
The system may be impaired or may not function
particularly in the following situations:
incorrect reference values were taught in
R
sudden pressure loss caused by a foreign
R
object penetrating the tyre, for example
there is a malfunction caused by another radio
R
page 396).

The
Tyre press. monitor currently unavailable
message appears in the Instrument Display
after a maximum of ten minutes of fording.
The tyre pressure monitoring system is then
temporarily unavailable due to fording. This
message goes out again a few minutes after
fording.

sure monitoring system

Tyre pressures will be displayed after a few

minutes of driving
Tyre pressure monitor
active: the teach-in

process of the system is not yet complete. The
tyre pressures are already being monitored.
The teach-in process takes longer if you have
engaged the differential locks. Check the tyre
pressure again later.
