Process Other Messages: Select how your handheld processes messages that are
not service load or service indication messages, for example, messages that are
sent by third parties. Choose from Auto, Prompt, or Reject.
Allow WAP Push Applications: Select whether you want your handheld to
accept applications that are developed by third parties.
If you have enabled WAP Push, you will also receive notification of incoming
messages and applications based on the settings that you configure in the Browser
notification profile. Refer to "Customizing notification profiles" on page 220 for
more information on setting the Browser notification profile.
WTLS
Wireless Transport Layer Security (WTLS) is the security layer of the WAP
Browser that provides confidentiality, data integrity, and authentication for WAP
services. WTLS allows the client and server to achieve authenticated and
encrypted communication for greater security of wireless transactions.
WTLS is an optional security feature that you can load onto your handheld when
using the desktop software's Application Loader tool. If your Nextel service plan
requires WTLS for secure Browser connections, you must load WTLS onto your
handheld. Refer to the Application Loader Online Help for more information on
loading additional handheld applications.
If Nextel enables your SIM card for browsing web pages using WTLS, the WTLS
security key is stored on your SIM card. You can interchange SIM cards between
BlackBerry 6510 Wireless Handhelds from Nextel and phones operating on the
iDEN network.
To configure the WTLS default settings
1. On the Home screen, click the Options icon. The Options screen appears.
2. Click WTLS. The WTLS screen appears. In the Encryption Strength and
Prompt For Server Trust fields, press the Space key until the preferred option
appears.
3. Click the trackwheel to view the menu. Click Save.
You return to the Options screen.
Contact your Nextel Customer Care for more information on WTLS and available
services.
