Note: You can also place a Nextel Direct Connect Call Alert from the other handheld
applications. Select a contact for whom you have saved a Nextel Direct Connect
Number. Click the trackwheel to view the menu. Click Alert.
To place a Nextel Direct Connect Group Call from the Phone
screen
1. On the Home screen, click the Phone icon. The Phone screen appears and
displays the last 20 contacts that you called.
2. Select a talkgroup and click the trackwheel to view the menu. Click Join. The
Joining Talkgroup dialog box indicates that your handheld is attempting to
join the talkgroup. The Talkgroup Joined dialog box appears after your
handheld successfully joins the talkgroup.
Note: After you join a talkgroup, your handheld monitors the activity of the talkgroup. If
you want to place a Group Call to your talkgroup, proceed with steps 3 and 4.
3. On the Phone screen, select the talkgroup that you joined and press the PTT
button.
The Active Call screen displays Talkgroup In Use, the Address Book
information that you have saved for your talkgroup, and your handheld's
Nextel Direct Connect Number. The Active Call screen also displays the
Nextel Direct Connect Number of the talkgroup member who is currently
speaking.
4. Press and hold the PTT button to speak to your talkgroup. Release the PTT
button to listen to other contacts in the group.
Note: Although you may be a member of more than one talkgroup, you can only join
one talkgroup at a time. If you join a new talkgroup, you are no longer connected to the
previous talkgroup.
