5.5.
Commands That Affect Protocol
Certain commands affect the operation of the Packet protocol. A full copy of the AX.25 pro-
tocol appears in the AEA's Technical Manual for your PK-232.
5.5.1.
AX25L2V2 – ON or OFF?
Your PK-232 uses the AX.25 Level 2 protocol, the rules by which your PK-232 communi-
cates with other Packet systems.

Digipeating may not work if a Version 2.0 packet is sent through a digipeater using an
older TNC.
The CHECK command controls a timing function that depends on the protocol version se-
lected.
5.5.2.
UNPROTO Who?
UNPROTO permits you to address "unconnected" packets, as well as route your beacon
and ID packets through digipeaters. The format is similar to that of the
mand:

Packet Timing Functions
Your PK-232 obeys a series of timing instructions built in to the protocol; timing is adjust-
able to compensate for variable conditions and local circumstances. The default values of
these instructions can be changed at any time for experimentation, and then returned to
their original values, if required.
