3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, with the cover side up.
4. Open and remove the compute node cover. See "Removing the compute node cover" on page 33.
5. Are you removing an I/O expansion ETE adapter (location Un-P1-C20) on an IBM Flex System p270
Compute Node?
v Yes: Continue with the next step.
v No: Continue with step 8 on page 51.
6. To remove an I/O expansion ETE adapter, you must first remove the I/O expansion adapter 2 if it is
present. The I/O expansion adapter 2 is at location Un-P1-C19 on an IBM Flex System p270
Compute Node. Pull the slot's two blue release tabs open, as indicated in Figure 19. Then, lift the
adapter up and away from its connector and out of the compute node.

7. Lift the I/O expansion ETE adapter up and away from its connector and out of the compute node,
as shown in Figure 20 on page 51. Continue with step 9 on page 52.
