8. Incidents, faults and remedial measures
Leaking chamber structure:
Effect
Sealing gasket for upper section & extension has been
forgotten
Sealing gasket for upper section & extension not greased
Sealing gasket for upper section & extension installed
the wrong way around
Upper section system or extension section has been
drilled into in the area above the sealing system
Upper section has been shortened without chamfer (co-
nical to aid insertion)
Leaking tank:
Effect
Cable duct fitted without sealing gasket
Cable duct sealing gasket not greased
Cable duct sealing gasket installed the wrong way
round
2x small cable screw connections forgotten or not tigh-
tened by hand or sealing gasket forgotten
1x large pipe screw connection forgotten or not tighte-
ned by hand or sealing gasket forgotten
Inlet and outlet structure leaking
Damaged tank (crack, hole)
Only during general inspection: air pocket between
upper section and tank
Tank dented:
Effect
Wrong filling material used
Wrong compaction
Not filled gradually with water
Wrong load-bearing class
No load distribution plate
Temperatures too high
Dimensions of the excavation pit
Clean layer under the tank
Measure
Install sealing gasket as a retro-fit measure
Remove the sealing gasket again, clean and grease it
Remove the sealing gasket again, clean it and install the
right way around
Replace the upper section
Chamfer the upper section system as a retro-fit measure

Install sealing gasket as a retro-fit measure
Grease the sealing gasket as a retro-fit measure
Turn the sealing gasket around
Fit cable screw connections as a retro-fit measure or tigh-

tual vehicles to be driven over it
