The chapter "Safety instructions" must be heeded!
6.1 Servicing
- The separator system must be serviced once a year by a
qualified person1).
Alongside disposal measures, the following jobs must be
carried out:
- Check on the inner walls of the sludge trap and the grease
separator
- Functional check on the electrical devices and installati-
ons, as appropriate.
- Records of the findings and work carried out must be kept
in the operating log and evaluated.
- If present, the electro-mechanical assemblies such as
pumps, valves, shut-off devices etc. must be serviced ac-
cording to the manufacturer's instructions twice a year
6.2 Review (general inspection)
Before initial operation and then at regular intervals of not
longer than 5 years, the separator system must be checked
for proper condition and correct operation by a technical
expert following complete emptying and cleaning.
At least the following points must be checked and recor-
ded:
- Dimensioning of the separator system
- State of repair and airtightness of the separator system
- Condition of the inner walls of the built-in components and
electrical devices, if appropriate
- Execution of the inlet pipe of the separator system as a

- Completeness and plausibility of records in the operating
log
- Proof of correct disposal of the contents of the separator
system removed
- Existence and completeness of the required permits and
documents (approvals, plan sewer system, operating and
servicing instructions)
A test report must be drawn up for the inspection carried
out, listing any faults found. If faults are found, they have to
be eliminated without delay.
1) The term "qualified" is used to describe employees at the
operators or from third parties who, on account of their trai-
ning, knowledge and practical experience, can guarantee
that they carry out evaluations or tests in a professional way
in the respective field.
The qualified person can gain the knowledge required for
operating and servicing separator systems at a training
course with subsequent on-site instruction, such as is offe-
red by respective manufacturers, professional associations,
chambers of industry and expert organisations in the field
of separator engineering.
