WARNING
If you secure a child in a child restraint system
on the front-passenger seat and the
PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp is
off, the front-passenger front airbag can
deploy in the event of an accident. The child
could be struck by the airbag. This poses an
increased risk of injury or even fatal injury.
Make sure that the front-passenger front air-
bag has been disabled. The PASSENGER AIR
BAG OFF indicator lamp must be lit.
NEVER use a rearward-facing child restraint
on a seat protected by an ACTIVE AIRBAG in
front of it; DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY to the
child can occur.
When the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator
lamp is off, the front-passenger front airbag is
activated.
Always observe the notes on transporting chil-
dren safely (
page 45).

Vehicles without automatic front-
passenger front airbag deactivation
system
Vehicles without automatic front-passenger
front airbag deactivation system have a special
sticker on the front-passenger side of the dash-
board.
In this case, never fit a rearward-facing restraint
system on the front-passenger seat.
You must also observe the following notes:

Notes on rearward and forward-facing
child restraint systems
If it is absolutely necessary to secure a child in a
rearward-facing child restraint system on the
co-driver's seat, you must always make sure
that the front-passenger front airbag is deacti-
vated. This is only the case if the PASSENGER
AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp is lit continuously
(
page 41).

When using a child restraint system on the co-
driver's seat you must observe the following:
move the co-driver's seat as far back as pos-
R
sible.
the surface of the child restraint system must
R
lie fully on the co-driver's seat cushion.
the backrest of a forward-facing child
R
restraint system must, as far as possible, rest
on the backrest of the co-driver's seat. The
child restraint system must not touch the roof
or be subjected to a load by the head
restraint.
adjust the angle of the backrest appropri-
R
ately.
if necessary, remove the head restraint on the
R
front-passenger seat.
always make sure that the shoulder belt strap
R
is correctly routed from the vehicle belt sash
guide to the shoulder belt guide on the child
restraint system. The shoulder belt strap
must be routed forwards and downwards
from the belt sash guide.
never place objects under or behind the child
R
restraint system, e.g. cushions.
Always comply with the manufacturer's instal-
lation and operating instructions for the child
restraint system used.
Suitability of seats for child restraint
systems
Notes on fitting suitable child restraint
systems
Only child restraint systems that meet the fol-
lowing UNECE standards are permitted for use
in the vehicle:
UN-R44

UN-R129 (i‑Size child restraint systems)
R
Only suitable for use in the vehicles specified
which are equipped with three-point seat belts
