The co-driver's front airbag can only be
deployed in an accident if the PASSENGER AIR
BAG OFF indicator lamp is off. If the co-driver's
seat is occupied, make sure the status of the co-
driver's front airbag is correct both before and
during the journey (
Airbag protection
Depending on the accident situation, an airbag
supplements a correctly worn seat belt and can
increase protection.

WARNING
If you deviate from the correct seat position,
the airbag cannot perform its intended pro-
tective function and can even cause addi-
tional injuries when deployed. There is an
increased risk of serious or even fatal injuries.
In order to avoid such risks, always ensure
that all vehicle occupants:
fasten their seatbelts correctly, including
R
pregnant women
are seated correctly and maintain the fur-
R
thest possible distance from the airbags
observe the following notes
R
Always ensure that there are no objects loca-
ted between the airbag and the vehicle occu-
pant.
To avoid risks resulting from a deployed airbag:
adjust the seats properly before beginning
R
your journey. Move the driver's and co-driv-
er's seats as far back as possible

there are no hard objects, e.g. coat hangers,

hanging on the grab handles or coat hooks
there are no accessories, such as drinks can

holders, attached in the airbag's deployment
area, e.g. on doors, side windows or side trim
panels
there are no heavy, sharp-edged or fragile

objects in the pockets of your clothing. Stow
such objects in a suitable place
Limitations of the protection provided
by airbags

WARNING
If you modify an airbag cover or affix objects
such as stickers to it, the airbag can no longer
function correctly. There is an increased risk
of injury.
Never modify an airbag cover or affix objects
to it.

WARNING
Unsuitable seat covers may obstruct or even
prevent deployment of the airbags integrated
into the seats. The airbags may then fail to
protect the vehicle occupants as intended.
