Packing for Re-Deployment

When moving the Vantage 8500 switch to a different physical location/site, you may need to pack
the switch and its associated equipment.
CAUTION:
Disconnect all power cords and communication cables from the switch prior to
removing the switch from the rack on which it is installed.
Do NOT use the power supply handles for lifting, carrying, or moving the unit. This
can damage the handles.
To pack the Vantage 8500 switch:
1. Insert the foam grip on the designed box pallet.
2. Position the Vantage 8500 switch chassis on the foam. Make sure the power supplies (rear of
the chassis) are on the foam side marked sPSU-S side, as shown.
3. Place the foam plate then the top foam on top of the chassis. The foam protection padding fits
snugly over the chassis top.
4. Insert the accessories in the top foam dedicated locations.
5. Slide the cardboard box over the chassis and foam with the flaps facing up.
Make sure it sits well on the pallet indent.
6. Fasten the box and secure it with the pallet using packing straps.
The packing list and part numbers (bar codes) are glued to the box. Safety labels are
printed on the box.
