The rack mounting holes conform to the IEA-310 standard for 19" racks.
Precautions should be taken to guarantee proper air ventilation in a fully populated and
cabled rack, and that the ambient temperature is maintained by allowing the air intake
from the front of the chassis to the exhaust side in the rack. Cabling must be taken into
account and not block air flow through the rack or through the chassis.

Power Requirements

Power requirements are useful for planning the power distribution system needed to support the
Vantage 8500 switch. Heat dissipation is an important consideration for sizing the air conditioning
requirements for an installation. Verify the available power source at the site for the type of device
you are installing.
To prevent a loss of input power, verify that the total maximum load on the cir-
cuit supplying power to the power supply is within the current ratings of the
wiring and breakers.
For added redundancy split the total maximum load across at least 2 circuits.

2.4.1 sPSU-S Units - Power Usage/Requirements

The Vantage 8500 switch requires multiple power connections using standard 3-wire (including a
safety grounding wire) AC power cords. The input voltage auto-adjusts for 100/240 VAC, 50Hz/
60Hz power connection.

There are two rack mount options. Option 1 is for an exact
U alignment whereby the rail kit occupies 3mm of the 1U
rack space under the chassis. Therefore, a minimum of 1U
clearance is required. However, your specific rack type may
require additional clearance.
Option 2 is for alignment with the hole above the 1 U mark-
ing. This does not require clearance under the chassis.
