6. Check List for Commissioning

Attention! Positions (front, rear, right, left) always refer to the vehicles centre line in forward direction of motion!

a) Checking All Screw Connections and Wheel Nuts

Engine vibrations and shocks during drive operation can loosen parts and screw connections.
Therefore, check before each use:
• All wheel nuts and screw connections must be tight.
• The servo control lever must fit tightly on the servo shaft.
• The air filter must be installed and firmly fastened to the carburettor with cable ties
• The hose connections and the tank lid must be tight
• The cable and hose placement must be OK

b) Removing and Replacing the car body

To remove the car body, remove the body splints and body protective plates. Now remove the car body
To replace the car body, insert the body holder into the holes drilled into the car body. Now attach the car body again to the body protective plates and the body
splints.

c) Checking Alignment and Tooth Backlash of the Drive

The engine transmits its power via the pinion on the clutch bell to the main cogwheel. Both rotary axes, i.e. the crank shaft, engine side, and the axis of the drive
section to the front and rear axis, must be aligned exactly parallel to each other. This prevents tension in the drive train, premature wear of the pinions and
bearing journals as well as loss of power.
Parallel placement of crankshaft and drive train should be checked and, if required, adjusted before commissioning of the vehicle!
When the alignment is parallel, the pinion on the clutch bell and the main cogwheels will run smoothly. If there is too much tolerance this will destroy
the toothed wheels in the long run; too little tolerance destroys the bearing in clutch and engine.
Checking the tooth backlash
• Put a thin paper slip between the pinion on the clutch bell and the main cogwheel in
the drive train.
• Turn the cogwheel manually.
• The paper strips must not rip apart when the wheels turn!
Readjusting the tooth backlash
• Loosen the four screws of the engine mounting at the bottom of the chassis
• Align the engine sideways. Then tighten the screws firmly again.
• Loosen the four screws on the engine support and align the engine vertically Then
tighten the screws firmly again.
