ACTAS software
The test pictures can be generated from four kinds of
sources: the Interface unit of the ACTAS, a host compu-
ter, a manually controllable source and a fixed source.
Test pictures generated by the ACTAS
Interface unit
The ACTAS Interface unit has a RGB picture generator.
The generated signals are then sent to the projector
through the TEST PICTURE OUTPUT connection. The
parameters of the test pictures can be programmed with
the help of the ACTAS Control Unit and can be stored in
the 'Set-up memory blocks' of the ACTAS Control Unit.
Horizontal scan frequency of the signals

Range : 15.625 to 99.990kHz
u
Resolution : on the Control Unit this is programmable
in 10Hz steps, but since lines consists of 280ns
pieces, the actual resolution is about 70Hz when the
scan frequency is around 15kHz, and about 3kHz
when the scan frequency is around 100kHz.
Vertical scan frequency

Range: 42Hz to 150Hz

Resolution : on the Control Unit this is programmable
in 1Hz steps.
Sync type

RGsB (sync on green, non-interlacing)

RGB_S (sync separate, non-interlacing)

Test picture patterns for evaluating results

Window : also used for adjustment,
1 grey level, limited in size

: useful for manually aligning the
brightness level :
the +5% rectangle should be distin-
guishable from the 0% background,
and the -5% rectangle not.

: 8 grey levels

Horizontal bar : 8 greys levels

Gamma
: as many as possible levels
(up to 128)

Blocks : 50 grey levels
u
Corners : 1 grey level, limited in size
Note : The chosen picture pattern under the 'Edit pa-
rameters' menu is the one which will be displayed
when the ACTAS is idle, it is not the picture
pattern used for adjustments.
