8. To set the probe temperature, click the Probe Temperature Setpoint box, and then type
an appropriate value for your application
The Surveyor MSQ Plus MS detector is ready to use as soon as the Probe Temperature
readback value approaches that in the setpoint box, although for most stable operation
Thermo Fisher Scientific recommends that you wait approximately 10 min for the source
to equilibrate.
9. Turn on the flow from the LC pump.

If communication between the MS detector and data system computer is lost, it might be
necessary to reset the MS detector using the Reset button on the power panel. Pressing the
Reset button creates an interrupt on the CPU PCB of the embedded computer. This causes
the embedded computer to restart into a known (default) state.
The procedure given here assumes that the MS detector and data system computer are both
powered on and operational. If the MS detector, data system computer, or both are off, refer
to "Restarting the Surveyor MSQ Plus System"
To reset the MS detector, press the Reset button located in the upper right-hand corner of the
MS detector's rear panel. See
(Figure 79).
