To switch from the ESI mode to the APCI mode
CAUTION Allow the probe heater to cool before you remove the ESI probe.
1. Turn off the LC pump flow. If you are using the cone wash pump, turn it off.
2. Turn the nitrogen gas, ion optics, and probe heater off by doing one of the following:
• From the Info view – Status page in Xcalibur, right-click the Surveyor MSQ listing
to display a shortcut menu. Then choose Turn Device Off from the menu.
• Open the Per Method Parameters table in the Tune window. Take the system out of
the Operate mode by clicking the Operate On/Off toggle button, and then turn off
the nitrogen gas by clicking the Nitrogen Gas On/Off toggle button.
3. Allow the probe heater to cool.
4. Unscrew and remove the PEEK fingertight fitting from the ESI probe.
5. Turn the locking plate on the ESI probe clockwise to the open position. Then, pull the
ESI probe out of the probe heater.
6. Remove the APCI probe from the holder located in the door of the Surveyor MSQ Plus
MS detector and replace it with the ESI probe.
