TROUBLESHOOTING

General Troubleshooting Guide

Zone IDs: T-F = Top Front, T-R = Top Rear, B-F = Bottom Front, B-M = Bottom Middle, B-R = Bottom Rear
Problem
1. The heater is not heating or is heating
too slowly. The display reads "CALL
FOR SERVICE - NO HEAT IN ZONE
XX (Zone ID)."
This error message displays when there
is a call for heat but no temperature rise
in 4 minutes.
2. One side of the grill will not heat. The
screen displays "CALL SERVICE. NO
3
HEAT IN ZONE (Zone ID) MAIN
POWER OFF & ON."
3. The display reads "TOO COOL" (Zone
ID) and will not allow a Cook cycle to
start.
This error message displays when a
zone drops 39 degrees below set point.
4. One heat zone will not heat. The display
reads "TOO COOL" (Zone ID).
5. One of the heat zones is overheating.
The display reads "TOO HOT" 
(Zone ID).
6. The grill will not turn on when the power
switch is in the ON position.

Probable Cause
a. The power cord has come loose or 
partially unplugged at wall receptacle.
a. The heater is faulty.
b. The contactor is faulty.
c. The circuit breaker may be off or
tripped.
d. The high-limit switch is faulty.
e. The solid-state relay is faulty.
a. Loose frozen product (e.g. onions,
shrimp) is being piled on top of the
thermocouples. This can drop the plate
temperature around the 
thermocouple causing a fault.
b. Frozen whole muscle product (chicken
breast) may cause this fault if too many
are placed on the grill or directly over
the thermocouples.
a. The interface board is faulty.
b. The solid-state relay is faulty.
c. The control harness is faulty.
a. The interface board is faulty.
b. The control harness is faulty.
c. The solid-state relay is faulty.
a. The circuit breaker is off or tripped.
b. The power cord is not connected 
properly.
c. The fuse in the control box is faulty.
d. The power switch is faulty.
Model 810, 812, 820, 822, 828 Series
Remedy
a. Check the plug receptacle and
reset the connection as needed.
a. Replace the heater.
b. Replace the contactor.
c. Reset the circuit breaker.
d. Replace the high-limit switch.
e. Replace the solid-state relay.
a. Inspect operation and inform the
operator to spread the product to a
uniform thickness. Avoid laying
product directly over the center of
the cook zone (where the 
thermocouples are positioned).
b. Inspect operation and inform the
operator to reduce the number of
products being laid. Show the
operator how to properly place
product, avoiding placement of
product directly over the 
thermocouples.
a. Replace the interface board.
b. Replace the solid-state relay.
c. Replace the control harness.
a. Replace the interface board.
b. Replace the control harness.
c. Replace the solid-state relay.
a. Reset the circuit breaker.
b. Reconnect the power cord.
c. Replace the fuse.
d. Replace the switch.
