LAN Connection
To connect the unit to LAN, insert a standard RJ45 Ethernet cable into the 10/100BaseT Ethernet port
on the back of the unit. If the LAN connection is OK, the LNK LED will light SOLID GREEN.
5.3
Serial Connection
The NetGuardian 216 G4 has 3 build options for it's serial / dialup port. You can order your port as a
Yost RS-232, RS-485, 202 modem, or 4-wire 202 RJ45. The serial port is located on the back panel,
where it is labeled "Primary."

The serial port can be used for two different functions:
· Reach-through proxy connection for LAN-based Telnet access to switches, radios, PBXs and
other equipment.
· Alarm reporting to the T/Mon Remote Alarm Monitoring System over an RS-232, 485, 202, or
dial-up modem.
Note: If the serial port is configured for alarm reporting to T/Mon, the port is not available for use as a
reach-through proxy port.
