Section 8: Using the Epilog Legend Systems

Cutting

Frequency

This control allows direct setting of the pulsing of the laser in Vector Mode. The
control allows setting from ten hertz to five thousand hertz. The lower frequencies
are normally used for perforating an edge when you do not want to completely
separate the cutout from the background. Most materials will show some difference
in edge appearance as the frequency is changed, and this is a mostly a matter of
personal preference. Recommended frequency settings for different materials are list
in the Recommended Speed and Power Setting section of this manual.

Smoothing

The smoothing control can be enabled or disabled by setting the control to YES or
NO. This control only has an effect in vector mode. If your work is mostly straight
lines with very little in the way of curves (text is normally mostly curves) your
machine will process jobs faster with smoothing turned off (set to NO). Otherwise,
smoothing should be enabled (set to YES). Curves cut faster as well as being
significantly better finished with smoothing on.

Mapping

These features are enabled for specialized applications and with limited technical
support.
