Ethernet Conversion

This parameter sets a conversion method used to transmit DIX
Ethernet frames over the 802.11b network.
Both ends of the link must use the same conversion method to
preserve the integrity of the DIX frame.
The three conversion options are described below.
Encapsulated
This setting encapsulates the entire DIX Ethernet frame into an
802.11 frame. The receiving radio removes the 802.11 header
before it processes the frame. Older 802.11 implementations
employed this conversion technique. Proxim recommends that
you do not use this method unless your Harmony 802.11b PC
Card needs to be compatible with older 802.11 equipment.
RFC1042
This setting converts DIX Ethernet frames to 802.11 frames with
a 802.2 SNAP header. On reception, all SNAP header frames
are converted back to DIX frames. All other frames are con-
verted to 802.3 Ethernet frames. Note that all "tunneled" frames
are converted back to DIX Ethernet frames.
RFC1042 is the default setting for this parameter.
802.1h
This setting converts DIX Ethernet frames to 802.11 frames with
a "tunneled" 802.2 SNAP Header. On reception, all "tunneled"
frames are converted back to DIX frames. All other frames are
converted to 802.3 Ethernet frames preserving any other 802.2
header.
