Note:
WEP must be enabled (that is, set to either 40 bit or
128 bit) to edit the parameters on this screen.
40 Bit Encryption
When configured for 40 bit WEP encryption, the PC Card can
support up to four Encryption Keys. Each Encryption Key is
composed of 5 sets of 2 hexadecimal digits (0-9 and A-F);
therefore each Key consists of 10 digits.
Follow these steps to configure the Encryption Key(s):
1.
Enter one to four Encryption Keys in the fields provided.
The Encryption Key(s) must match the key(s) used by all
of the other 802.11b products on your network in order to
communicate. By default, the Encryption Keys are blank.
If you make a mistake while entering a key, click <Clear>
to erase the current entries and start over.
2.
Click <Write> to save the Encryption Keys. Once saved,
the Encryption Keys are no longer visible within the
Harmony 802.11b Utility, although you can always over-
write the values.
The Harmony 802.11b PC Card can receive packets that have
been encrypted using any of its four configured keys.
However, the PC Card can only send packets using one of its
Encryption Keys, the Default Key. Use the Default Key option
to select one of the Encryption Keys to use to encrypt outgoing
transmissions.
