Commonly Asked Technical Support
Questions
This section discusses some of the most common problems you
may encounter while using the Harmony 802.11b PC Card and
offers possible solutions.
Problem/Symptom
Question
The Harmony 802.11b
driver loads successfully,
but I can't communicate
with the network.
During installation, I am
prompted to insert a
Windows CD into the
CD-ROM. What if I don't
have a Windows CD?
How do I change the
Encryption Keys for the
Harmony 802.11b PC
Card?
Possible Solution/Answer
You may not be associated with an
Access Point or you may not be in
range. Run the Harmony 802.11b
Utility to determine if you are in
range. Also confirm that you have
the same SSID and Encryption
settings as the other 802.11b
devices on your network.
You may need either a Windows
CD or diskettes to complete the
installation of the Harmony
802.11b PC Card. If you do not
have a Windows CD or diskettes,
then it is possible that you may
already have the Windows 95 or 98
installation files on your hard disk.
These files are known as Windows
Cabinet files or CAB files. The
Windows Cabinet files are usually
located in
C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS.
The only way to change the
Encryption Keys is with the
Harmony 802.11b Utility. As a
security measure, the Encryption
Keys are not visible within the
Harmony 802.11b Utility but you
can overwrite existing values with
new settings.
