3.5.3. Aisle Controller (AC)

The Aisle Controller (AC) is more than just the "black command box," it is the
heart of the system, and communicates to the Perfect Pick, PTL, WUI, WRTC,
& DB. The AC must always be open, though it is usually minimized and behind
the Workstation User Interface (Figure 3-9).
• The Aisle Controller gathers and sends information (barcode and location)
of a container either holding product (Put-away orders) or ready for product
(Pick orders). The AC also sends information to the Perfect Pick as a task
to present a tote holding or receiving product.
• Data is requested to gather information referencing the barcode or label,
and the information is presented graphically in a user-friendly format.
• When a container enters the work area, the WUI will highlight the order on
screen when it is ready to perform operations, and it will project the same
highlighted light into the cell of the Perfect Pick tote. The AC will also send
information to the Pick to Lights (PTLs) on the Workstation to illuminate the
correct zone with the same colored light as the WUI.
