5 OPERATING THE DEVICE
5. OPERATING THE DEVICE
The safety information from item 2 Safety must be observed.
This chapter contains all information relating to operation of the control unit.
5.1
Device start
WARNING!
When the power returns after switching on or after a power failure, the control unit first carries out various
self tests. The objective is to detect defects on the device and ensure correct functioning. When the self tests have
been completed and no errors have occurred, it signals "System OK" and the alive LED (LED 9) starts flashing
(see 9.3.1 Boot sequence).
WARNING!
Version 1.0
Risk of fire and risk of damage to the control unit!
Incorrect connection can result in damage to the control unit or the magnet;
there also is a risk of fire.
Before switching on the control unit during initial commissioning, it must
■
be verified that the electrical connections have been connected correctly.
Risk of injury!
The control unit uses a fast, irregular flashing sequence of the red and green
lamp (control interface pin 13/15 and pin 14/16) to indicate that it does not
know the status of the magnet (clamped or released). It therefore has to be
expected that the magnet is still clamped with the full holding force.
Ferromagnetic parts can then be unintentionally attracted and there is a
danger of crushing parts of the body.
The flashing signals must be observed. Establish a defined magnetic state
■
by deliberately re-tensioning or demagnetizing.
NOTE!
The boot process for the device takes 80 – 100 s due to the self tests.
