4 ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION AND INTERFACES
4.3.1

Earth fault detection

In case of faults of the insulation of the magnet coil against the earthed metal magnet housing, the control unit
detects an earth fault at an earth contact resistance value < 100 kΩ and displays this as an error.
The same applies to the live supply lines to the magnet against earthed reference potentials.
DANGER!

Control interface

The control interface is used to supply the control unit with control information, provide feedback and select the
user setup.
We recommend using shielded cables.
WARNING!
The connected cable must be < 30 m.
Version 1.0
Risk of electric shock!
An electric shock can cause death or serious injury.
If an earth fault is detected, the control unit must be shut down immediate-
ly, disconnected from the power supply and secured against reactivation.
The fault must be rectified.
Before disconnecting, the control unit has to be disconnected from the
power supply and a discharge period of 2 minutes has to elapse before
the power supply and magnet connection terminals can be touched.
Check connectors, cables and the magnet. Contact SAV service if
necessary.
NOTE!
The service interface is intended only for use by SAV service engineers.
In case of improper use, proper operation can no longer be guaranteed.
Risk of injury and risk of damage to the machine!
Failure to observe this can result in unintentional clamping or release cycles
being triggered unintentionally. There is a danger of falling over or throwing
away workpieces.
Installing signal cables in the direct proximity of cable harnesses is not
permitted.
