7 DECOMMISSIONING AND DISPOSAL

7. DECOMMISSIONING AND DISPOSAL
The safety information from item 2 Safety must be observed.
This chapter contains all information referring to temporary and permanent decommissioning as well as to envi-
ronmentally friendly disposal. As this device is a partial unit which is normally used in machines/systems, separate
disposal of the control unit is usually not necessary if the device is disposed of together with the overall machine/
system in an environmentally friendly manner, e.g. by a service provider.
If you want to dispose of the polarity reverse control unit separately, please contact SAV GmbH. We
will be happy to help. For final decommissioning of the overall system or machine, please contact the
respective manufacturer or a service provider to conduct legally compliant disposal of the machine.
The components of machines and systems are valuable materials. As per the WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU (Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment), these must be reintroduced into the recycling cycle.
DANGER!
WARNING!
The control unit may only be removed by a qualified person (see 2.4 Personnel qualification). This person is respon-
sible for ensuring that the device is set to a safe state which poses no further hazards.
This person must be informed about the relevant legal regulations and options for disposal of the devices.
On the other hand, this person must have sufficient knowledge of the overall machine or system so that removal
of components does not result in a risk of any damage or injury. (The information regarding the overall system
are not known to SAV and can therefore not be stipulated.)
7.1

Temporary decommissioning

No specific tasks are necessary for temporary decommissioning of the control unit. As this device is usually part of
an overall machine, the instructions in the manual for this overall machine must still be followed for this case. For
example, electro permanent magnets have to be demagnetised.
Version 1.0
Risk of electric shock!
An electric shock can cause death or serious injury.
Disconnecting the power supply and magnet connection always has to
be carried out with the control unit switched off, disconnected from the
power supply and secured against reactivation.
Initially, the control unit has to be disconnected from the power supply
and a discharge period of 2 minutes has to elapse before the power
supply and magnet connection terminals can be touched.
Risk of residual magnetism!
There is a danger of crushing when handling ferromagnetic materials.
For disassembly, the stored magnetic energy from the connected magnet
has to be released.
