During self-tests, the Self Test LED remains on for three minutes or longer or
the console displays an error message.
The server has failed a self-test.
The server may not always be able to report a failure on the console (for
example, CPU failure). If a lighted Self Test LED is the only symptom, contact
3Com or your networoced with the motherboard or auxiliary processor
board, contact 3Com or your network supplier. If the error is associated with
a 16-port asynchronous module, replace the module. For information on
replacing the module, refer to Chapter 5, "Maintenance and Upgrades." If
the problem persists, contact 3Com or your network supplier.
The Boot State LED goes on and off cyclically.
The boot source is "Monitor" and there is no terminal connected to the
console port.
Connect a terminal to the console port. Enter
(Model CS/3100 only) or
Boot fails and the monitor prompt appears on the console.
Take the following action:
1 If you are booting from a network, make sure that your network is
operational and that the communications server is configured to use the
network boot source.
2 When you are prompted to enter the monitor, type
sequence.
3 If the problem happens again, type

If the boot succeeds and your boot source is a diskette, make a new copy of
your software distribution diskette using the procedure in "Copying and
Formatting Diskettes". Otherwise, refer to Chapter 4, "Configuration," to
