ONITOR
This appendix describes how to access and use the monitor utility, which
consists of commands and parameters that reside in the motherboard's
firmware. Monitor mode suspends normal operation and allows interaction
only with the monitor command interface. Using this utility, you can
perform the following tasks:
Boot or reset the server
Copy and format diskettes
List and delete files on a diskette
Dump the contents of the server's memory to diskettes or the network
Display current settings of firmware parameters
Modify firmware parameters to customize the operation of your server
Procedures for displaying and modifying firmware parameters appear in
greater detail in Chapter 4, "Configuration."
After using the monitor, you must reboot the communications server to
resume normal operation.
To access the monitor utility, you must attach a terminal to the console port,
located on the CS/3000 series server's back panel. Configure the terminal to
9600 bps, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity.
These instructions assume the default firmware configuration. If you have
used firmware configuration commands to change the baud rate, configure
the terminal accordingly.
You can access the monitor in any of the following ways:
Turn on server power without a boot source.
